Redwood City, California – (The Hosting News) – December 12, 2005 – Internet naming and addressing company, Nominum, has announced that Paul
Mockapetris, Nominum Chairman and Chief Scientist, will be discussing ENUM and
the next wave of networking at Networld + Interop, in New York
City on December 12-15th, 2005.
Mr. Mockapetris will explain the basics of ENUM, the system for porting public-network numbering over to the world of VOIP, in his session entitled, “ENUM Got Your Number?” on Tuesday, December 13 from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. He will explain how ENUM works, why it is important, who will be implementing it and when we’re likely to see it in deployment here in North America.
Mr. Mockapetris will moderate a second session entitled, “The Next Real Wave in Networking: Separating Reality From the Hype,” featuring a panel of industry experts giving their views on the top technologies that people should care about that will become classics, and those that are just hype. This session takes place on Tuesday, December 13, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
As the inventor of the Domain Name System (DNS), and Chief Scientist at Nominum, Paul Mockapetris is well versed in taking IP addressing and DNS to the next stage. DNS, the “virtual electricity” for the Internet, is now being extended to route Voice over IP phone calls, as well as short and multimedia messaging services, but is getting further complicated by the increase in spam, worms and viruses clogging up the network.
The current open source BIND servers can become so overloaded that they crash, resulting in a “lights out” situation. Nominum offers industry-leading solutions to truly enable an always-on network, through providing industry-leading network naming and addressing solutions, enabling scalable and resilient DNS services that are central to next generation networks.
Interop New York will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, December 12-16, 2005. For further information about the event, please visit: www.interop.com.
