News: National Video Game Tournament Attracts Cyber Athletes

Parsippany, New Jersey - (The Hosting News) - November 4, 2005 - Video gaming has become a highly competitive sport, complete with cyber athletes and professional leagues from all over the country who compete in national tournaments. PNY Technologies, Inc. announced today it is sponsoring the Winter Counter-Strike 1.6 national tournament.

PNY Technologies is the exclusive provider of its Verto GeForce graphics cards and high-speed gamer memory for the PNY CPL Winter Counter-Strike 1.6 Qualifiers being hosted at Cyber Square Alliance (CSA) centers nationwide on November 12-13.

Press and spectators are invited to attend the LAN event at the web2zone cyber center in New York City on November 12 to observe professional video gamers and eSport cyber athletes compete for over $20,000 in cash and prizes; including PNY Verto 7800GT graphics cards, Attache 2.0 USB 256MB flash drives and Verto high-speed, 1GB DDR2 memory kits.

First place regional winners will receive preferred seeding and paid entry to play in the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) Winter Championships coming up in December.

According to Marca Armstrong, PNY Technologies' Senior Marketing Manager for PC systems, ''Video gaming is becoming as popular as professional poker and skateboarding, as many are not just playing for fun but earning a living too. As this sport evolves into a professional sport, PNY will continue to equip tournament gaming rigs with high-end 3D graphics cards and the best system components that mainstream and professional video gamers require while they compete.''

The CPL Winter Counter-Strike 1.6 Qualifiers, sponsored by PNY, will take place simultaneously at five of North America's premier LAN cyber centers, including web2zone (New York), Gamers Asylum (Florida), CG Centre (California), Net Heads (Indiana) and GameWyze (Texas).

Day 1 will consist of the local LAN tournament with placement prizes and an MVP prize. Day 2 will feature a controlled online Grand Finals tournament with the winning teams from each respective location competing to be crowned as champion.

The Counter-Strike 1.6 Qualifiers will be held November 12-13, 2005 at 10 a.m. at web2zone - 54 Cooper Square(between Astor Pl and 4th Ave) in New York City, New York.
