Apache continued to lead the market with a share of 67.92 percent, up with 0.07 percent compared to the previous month. MicrosoftÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s market share declined slightly to 21.09 percent compared to 21.14 percent in the previous month. SunOne and Zeus also lost market shares of 0.03 percent each.
According to Netcraft, the web server market shares remained nearly the same since November 2003. The market shares of the two leading web server providers Apache and Microsoft did not show significant changes during this period. NetcraftÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s monthly web server survey calculates web server market shares based on data from all computers connected to the Internet. The survey for October 2004 registered responses from 55,388,466 websites. According to Netcraft, in September 2004, Apache gained 704,000 websites and Microsoft gained 174,000 websites.
