News: R1Soft, Web Hosting Software Solutions Firm, Sponsors Boston Red Hat Summit
News
Houston, Texas - (The Hosting News) - June 25, 2008 - Developer of near-continuous data protection products for Linux and Windows, R1Soft, through a Gold level sponsorship, recently participated in the fourth annual open source technology conference, Red Hat Summit, held in Boston, Massachusetts.

R1Soft promoted its CDP Server for Linux, which is the only near-Continuous backup software available for Linux servers. Near-Continuous backup means efficient backup windows -- usually as short as 15 minutes, even on large, heavily loaded servers. R1Soft uses a unique kernel level backup technology it developed, bringing savings and efficiency on a level never before seen for Linux. This is significant in a world where a Linux server backup can typically take hours or days to complete without R1Soft's CDP technology.

David Wartell, Vice President, R1Soft division, BBS Technologies noted, ''Our software offers the only near-Continuous backup for Linux in the world. This is an important opportunity for R1Soft to get the word out to the Linux community that the nightly backup window is finally dead and gone with our efficient kernel level Continuous Data Protection technology.''

R1Soft hosted ''The Future of Linux Server Backup: Near-Continuous Data Protection,'' an education session on Wednesday, June 18 at 2:45 pm for conference attendees. The company discussed serious challenges posed to system administrators due to rapid data growth. The session provided an overview of backup techniques for Linux servers and demonstrate how Continuous Data Protection technology (CDP) is the future of Linux server backup and restore.

R1Soft exhibited at space #S11 on the floor of the exhibit hall, where it offered a variety of promotional materials and run its popular prize wheel. Attendees have the chance to win one of many floor prizes, including CDP Starter packs, t-shirts, penguins, and cash.

In addition, R1Soft recently relocated its new corporate headquarters, in the historic Montrose district of Houston, Texas. R1Soft's new home, located at 110 Avondale in Houston, Texas, provides the rapidly growing company with the floor space it needs to continue to roll out innovative data protection products. The new building celebrated its 100 year anniversary this past May.

R1Soft's parent company, BBS Technologies Inc., uses several other historic properties in the area. The company’s campus-like environment attracts the best and brightest software developers.

Founded in 2003, R1Soft is a provider of disk-based backup solutions. The company's customer list includes some of the world's largest hosting providers. R1soft products provide Continuous Data Protection (CDP) for over 85,000 mission-critical Linux and Windows servers worldwide. In November, 2007 R1Soft was acquired by BBS Technologies, Inc.
