Verizon Hosted Services Provider, Ranks in Global Network Leaders Quadrant
Basking Ridge, New Jersey – (The Hosting News) – February 2, 2009 – Web host and Internet solutions firm, Verizon Business, has ranked among industry analyst firm Gartner Inc.’s Leaders quadrant, among global network services providers, in its new report.
”Magic Quadrant for Global Network Service Providers,” is the latest Leaders quadrant placement follows Verizon Business’ recent Leaders quadrant position in the ”Magic Quadrant for Pan-European Network Service Providers.”
Nancy Gofus, Senior Vice President of global business products remarked, ”Our approach to the global marketplace has been to create a consistent experience for our customers and their employees whether they are located in Paris, Texas, or Paris, France. Our extensive network reach, comprehensive solutions portfolio, professional global account teams and robust online service portal add up to a compelling value proposition.”
The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Global NSPs examines service providers that can deliver fixed corporate networking services worldwide, including wide area networking (WAN) services, such as MPLS and IPsec virtual private networks; converged voice services, such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking and managed IP telephony; and remote access services.
According to Gartner, providers positioned in the Leaders quadrant ‘have a full portfolio of voice and data products, coupled with above-average service and support, wide global coverage, and competitive pricing. They have a strong vision that includes adopting more ICT capabilities, which is a strategy they articulate clearly and openly.’

Earlier this year, Verizon expanded and improved its global networks, with enhanced speed, availability, diversity and resiliency for business and government customers worldwide. The investments were part of the approximately $17 billion Verizon Communications planned to spend this year building, operating and integrating one of the most advanced, reliable and broadband-capable wireless and wireline networks in the world.
Two years after launching its Atlantic network mesh, the company continued its leadership in undersea-cable meshing by completing a seven-way diverse transpacific mesh in September – adding nodes in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea to the existing nodes in Japan. A network mesh provides multiple alternate paths for rerouting traffic in the event of a network interruption.
The Asia-Pacific mesh increases network availability, reducing provisioning intervals from three weeks to one week and lowering latency (the time it takes for a packet of data to get from one designated point to another) up to 15 percent from the U.S. to Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The company also completed the first phase of its North America mesh this year, deploying 22 new mesh nodes in the U.S. and expanding its network into Canada, with new nodes located in Toronto and Montreal.
