Web Design Library (WDL), an educational resource project of Template Monster, has redesigned its home page in order to meet the growing demands of its visitors. WDL states that all the changes that were made based on the requirements of its visitors only.

Now with the first page of WDL, visitors are able to get the freshest news in the Web Design World and all other information pertinent to the industry and Web Design Library. All of which is structurally represented with such sections as:

• Editor’s Pick – a special feature to let visitors know what materials are of special interest;

• Recently Added – here visitors can check all the materials which were added;

• Filtered Web Design News – with this section we publish latest web design news which is of real importance to web design community.

The remaining information is represented with “Site of the Day” and “Today Added Website Templates” sections, which updates daily as well. We’ve made no changes to our Search, as it proved itself really sufficient.

“During the six months of our existence, we’ve managed to gain a constant audience with web designers and web masters,” says Max Lensky, CEO of Web Design Library. “When developing the first version of our site, we used the idea of a catalogue as the foundation. But we’ve discovered that our visitors are more interested in our updates as we add 15 new materials daily, plus news, showcases, etc. That’s why we’ve decided to redesign our home page.”

Making such changes, the WDL team demonstrates its willingness to follow their readers while building the resource. Not only usability experts and information architects can set standards for site design. Sometimes real individual voices can be not only heard but accepted as a guide to action.

This proves the unofficial motto of Web Design Library team: “Ideal design is that which lives in accordance with its users’ lives.”
