Dallas, Texas – (The Hosting News) – March 16, 2006 – Enterprise level hosting company, The Planet, has a new facility with more than $14 million in datacenter improvements.
The more than 72,000 square feet of additional datacenter space in Dallas includes 30,000 square feet of finished Tier 1 datacenter and support space. The acquisition of this facility will also allow for future capacity of 36,000 servers.
The new facility features an industry leading N+2 level of redundancy including:
â€¢ Dual electrical utility feeds from separate TXU substations
â€¢ One 2-megawatt diesel generator
â€¢ Parallel redundant 750KVA MGE UPS
â€¢ Dual 550 ton carrier chillers
â€¢ Double interlock pre-action fire suppression
â€¢ Multiple levels of physical security

The Planet has substantially grown its datacenters in the last 17 months, increasing space more than 200,000 square feet. In January of 2005, The Planet opened a new 51,000 square foot Tier 1 datacenter at the INFOMART in Dallas. In May of 2004, the company also added 21,000 square feet, opening another $8 million state-of-the-art datacenter in Dallas.
