(The Hosting News) – DotNetNuke module developer, PackFlash, has just released an new version of their DotNetNuke Events Module, which is a solution for providing a list of events within sites built on top of the DotNetNuke platform. This new version of the Events module has the capability to tie 2 or more websites together and share the events between those sites.
When events are shared, they are represented as if they belong to the current site. The user is not forced to switch sites as they would be if the content sharing was accomplished via RSS feeds. This is a much better experience for the user. Appropriate controls are included so that content administrators can select exactly which events are shared or kept unique to a particular site. One application of this feature is for an company that sites for different business units, but which needs to display a information about trade conferences on each of the sites. PackFlash’s DNN Event module makes this a snap to implement.
While the PackFlash DNN Event module can be purchased on its own, it also exists as part of the Constellation suite of modules. Constellation is a combination of eight DotNetNuke modules that are bundled together, and which are integrated in a way that is unique in the world of DNN. The suite includes News & Blogs, Image Gallery, Slideshow, Friendly URLs, Mega Drop-Down Menu, Comments, Videos and Events Module for DotNetNuke. The Event module’s purpose within the suite is to handle the particular needs of displaying events whether as part of a list or a calendar grid.
“The Events module is one of our newer modules, just introduced at the start of this year. This release and the included feature enhancements represent an installment on the delivery of our promise to constantly improve the module and to improve the integration between all of the products within our suite of DNN modules” says the CEO of PackFlash, Chris Risner.
Version 3.2 of the PackFlash Constellation DNN Modules also offers an important upgrade to the Friendly URLs Module to support the multi-site portal data sharing, which is that duplicate, or shared, content across sites will be auto-detected and managed through the use of canonical meta tags. Owners of web sites don’t have to worry about getting penalized by search engines because of they are sharing content across their sites.
