(The Hosting News) – A data center for the world of online payments: Popular eBay subsidiary PayPal is said to have recently added its fourth company data center, according to a report from Reuters on Tuesday.
The move was made amid what company president Davis Marcus described as “rapid growth.”
Meanwhile, the facility’s location remains wrapped in mystery as no location was given for security purposes. It is, however, known that PayPal operates other locations in areas including Scottsdale, Arizona and San Jose, California.
“We’re growing still very, very fast, so we need more machines, more capacity and bandwidth,” stated Marcus in the Reuters report.
Bringing the new facility online could help PayPal increase its IT capacity by one third – a significant move for a company that plans to add 2 million additional merchant locations by the end of this year.
PayPal has been around since 1998 and was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion in October of 2002.
