(The Hosting News) – 2012 is a year that could be set for a considerable amount of data center expansion, at least according to recent statistics unveiled by colocation provider Digital Realty Trust on Monday.
One of the latest companies set for expansion includes Phoenix, Arizona-based colocation provider Phoenix NAP. The company announced on Monday that it had chosen Amsterdam, The Netherlands to set up its new European node within the data center facility of another provider, Interxion.
By setting up the operation, services by Phoenix NAP including the company’s Secured Servers, Secured Cloud, IaaS solutions and public cloud will be offered through the Amsterdam facility.
Discussing the matter in a press release, Phoenix NAP President Ian McClarty expressed enthusiasm about working with Interxion. “Its strong brand recognition and world-class facility are in line with Phoenix NAP in terms of providing flexible, cost effective solutions while maintaining the highest level of security systems and we look forward to building a strong relationship with the data center,” stated McClarty.
Meanwhile, the colocation provider identified several reasons for going with Interxion. These included competitive pricing, multiple carriers and the Amsterdam location.
Interxion represents one of the largest data center solution providers in European. Aside from its Amsterdam location, the company has other facilities in London, Madrid, Paris, Dublin, Zurich and more.
Phoenix NAP’s selection of Amsterdam follows an announcement earlier this month in which the company unveiled a revamped website along with new 8 and 16 GB RAM servers. The company’s colocation services provide features including disaster recovery, cooling and security.
