(The Hosting News) – Service disruptions are commonly widespread throughout the gaming world – so much so that the issue impacts 84% of those gaming online in some form: That was the conclusion reached by web host LeaseWeb following a recent survey.
Results showed that 6 in 10 faced “unplanned server outages” while using their favorite games. 20% of them responded highly negatively with behavior described as either “furious,” “angry,” or “outraged.”
The company polled attendees during April’s Game Developers Conference to get its results.
“Interrupted play tends to leave most gamers annoyed, and considering the rapid growth potential of the online gaming industry, investing in reliable infrastructure is becoming more important than ever,” commented LeaseWeb Business Development Manager Paul Grimwood via a press release appearing on PRNewswire.
Grimwood went on to emphasize the stability required to keep a game running solidly, stating, “Having a reliable, scalable infrastructure is an important factor that will have an impact on determining the successful gaming companies from the not so successful.”
Meanwhile, LeaseWeb’s survey results showed an interesting trend in the field of mobile gaming: iOS titles are expected to fair better than PC gaming this year while general mobile gaming will also surpass console use.
LeaseWeb is notable for being the hosting provider of Sunset Games, a developer that just released the title Tank Fighter via Facebook.
