Public housing communities with Google Fiber will soon gain free gigabit internet service. The company made the announcement on Wednesday and plans to expand the program to many cities in the near future. They are working directly with the US Department of Hosting and Urban Development’s ConnectHome initiative.
The partnership began to deliver free internet last summer, but the connections topped out at 5 Mbps. This connection was free for anybody after the initial fee. However, Google Fiber will now offer the Gigabit connections free of charge, too.
