(The Hosting News) – A key Microsoft solution will become available via Rackspace Hosting’s cloud computing platform. According to a report from eWeek.com, the hosting company planned on announcing the integration of Windows Server 2012 during the World Partner Conference by Microsoft today.
Microsoft previously released a preview version of the server management OS in February and its eventual availability via Rackspace’s cloud platform should come as no surprise. The company announced in late June that it had been recognized at the Microsoft Hosting Partner of the Year for 2012. At the time, Rackspace VP of worldwide channel sales referred to the distinction as “a significant accomplishment.”
“Through an expansive portfolio of Microsoft offerings backed by Fanatical Support®, Rackspace will continue to open the door to new market opportunities, while setting the pace for innovation in the hosting space,” said Rajiah in a press release regarding the matter.
Windows Server 2012 features a number of capabilities, assisting IT administrators with infrastructure functions such as storage, security, management, networking and more.
According to the eWeek.com, Rackspace CTO John Engates emphasized that Windows Server 2012’s availability on Rackspace would be notably different than its availability through other cloud hosts. “They don’t troubleshoot your applications, and they don’t notify you if your application goes down at 3 in the morning. It’s really up to you,” Engates stated in the eWeek.com report.
Rackspace currently provides availability for Microsoft SQL 2012, SharePoint and Exchange among other notable hosting solutions. Microsoft is currently hosting its annual partnership event in Toronto, Canada. During the event, the company noted that it hoped to release Windows 8 for general availability by sometime during October.
