(The Hosting News) – It looks like Amazon may have a new rival in the battle for cloud domination. Just recently tech provider Joyent (whose services include managed hosting, online games, eCommerce, & more) unveiled its public cloud directly aimed at maintaining applications for developers and businesses.
In fact, the solutions provider states the services “use fewer servers and lower compute costs by delivering up to 14x faster speeds than comparable Amazon EC2 machine instances and providing instant CPU bursting and intelligent data caching.”
Specifically, the new service is made for “SmartDataCenter 6,” an infrastructure management platform that provides things like management security, analytics, and more.
Commenting on the matter in a press release, Joyent GM Steve Tuck stated, “Joyent Cloud provides customers with peace of mind that their infrastructure will just work, just scale, and be fully visible and transparent at all times.”
“We eliminate the compromises inherent in running on other clouds while delivering exceptional performance and speed at a competitive price,” he continued.
With the cloud service, Joyent is seeking to provide stability all while applications may experience “abrupt” spikes in use.
The company is known as being a high-profile tech provider for companies such as LinkedIn.
Lately, there’s been an increasing rise in cloud services. Just recently, Amazon Web Services, a cloud provider for similar services, announced the launch of GovCloud, a platform aiming to provide cloud technology for U.S. government agencies.
