(The Hosting News) – Fresh off of recently becoming a subsidiary of CenturyLink, colocation and hosting provider Savvis has some big news regarding the expansion of its data center facilities. Today, the company detailed center openings for the latter part of this year.
Aside from recently opening data facilities in both Atlanta and Seattle, the company is expected to open one in Boston on the fifteenth of next month and two more in Piscataway, New Jersey and Toronto, Canada in mid-November.
Commenting on the matter, GM of hosting business at Savvis Brian Klingbeil stated, “As enterprises move steadily toward a more flexible IT infrastructure strategy, they can benefit from Savvis’ total commitment to reliability, broad range of services and exceptional network expertise.”
Overall, the additional facilities added by Saavis this quarter represent over 90,000 square feet of data center space.
Besides offering colocation and hosting through its data centers, Saavis also provides services such as cloud, security, and more.
In late April, telecommunications provider CenturyLink announced plans to acquire the hosting provider. At the time of the announcement, CenturyLink CEO Flen F. Post II said, “The transaction creates a premier managed hosting and co-location provider with global scale in a high-growth sector, and is expected to be accretive to revenue growth and cash flow per share.” Meanwhile, the merger was finalized in mid-July.
