(The Hosting News) – Savtira Corporation, a new provider of B2B Cloud Commerce solutions, has selected Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM), the leading provider of cloud optimization services, as its content delivery network (CDN) provider. Akamai will be providing Savtira clients, and ultimately their consumers, with accelerated content delivery, enhancing the consumer online shopping experience.
Savtira is a developing software-as-a-service Cloud Commerce solutions company, using mass data centers around the world to power the cloud for storage and quality streaming needs. Savtira’s cloud platform holds a robust catalog of digital media and physical goods made available to retailers who choose to stock their eStores using Savtira’s catalog. Savtira’s infrastructure uses e-commerce to sell both digital and physical goods in one unified shopping cart online – making consumer transactions convenient and easy.
Akamai delivers between 15 and 30 percent of all web traffic. The Akamai Intelligent Platform is designed to make it easier for companies to be successful online by ensuring performance, instant scalability and security using its globally-distributed platform of servers. As consumers continually turn closer to the online world to shop, high-quality, speedy and reliable Internet connection are deciding attributes that win over customer loyalty. The Akamai Intelligent Platform is a differentiator that set Akamai apart from other vendor options Savtira reviewed.
“At Savtira, we create custom-branded eStores for each client. We realize how vital it is for consumers to be able to view a product image,” said Michael Avina, Savtira’s chief technology officer. “We want our clients’ customers to see a product photo immediately as the webpage swiftly loads, which is why we selected Akamai as we continue to build-out our operating infrastructure.”
“We’re pleased to have been chosen by Savtira for its Cloud Commerce platform. The Akamai Intelligent Platform is designed to make real-time adjustments in response to congestion, security threats and network failures to ensure there is no impact on the end-users, reducing access latency,” said Lelah Manz, chief strategist, e-commerce, Akamai Technologies.
To better understand the consumer use of Akamai’s connectivity, Savtira provided this example: say one is browsing an online store while in a New York City apartment. The main data center may be located in Tampa, Fla. however, with the Akamai Intelligent Platform, the information from the webpage the end-user is browsing (photos, videos, etc.) will likely be accessed from a closer data center located in Washington, D.C., for instance. This access transfer should allow the dynamic content to be uploaded to that home computer (in New York City) much faster, allowing for a better, more convenient online shopping experience.
“Savtira’s Entertainment Distribution Network (EDN) in development will also stream digital media from the cloud to any device. Consumers would be able to access the digital media on a rental or subscription basis where no downloading or installation will be necessary. A device-agnostic pause-and-resume capability will also be available. All data and configuration is stored within the cloud,” said Avina.
