South Dakota State Officials Recruit Data Centers
(The Hosting News) – The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) is working with officials from Sioux Falls, Vermillion and Yankton to attract data centers to the state. The group is attending the Data Center World Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., which wraps up today.
“Data centers are one of the categories within the computer and technology industries that work well in South Dakota. We have abundant land and water, low electrical rates and a great fiber infrastructure,” said Pat Costello, Commissioner of the GOED. “This show gives us the opportunity to showcase the state to those that could benefit from doing business in South Dakota.”
According to its website, Data Center World is the largest global event of its kind and has been named one of the 50 fastest growing tradeshows in the U.S. It is the leading educational conference for data center professionals. The show is presented by the Association for Data Center Management professionals (AFCOM), which represents 4,500 of the largest data centers around the world.
The collaborative effort is part of the GOED’s co-op marketing program, which allows the state and local entities to pool their resources and better leverage marketing dollars. For more information on the co-op marketing program, please visit http://www.sdreadytopartner.com.
