Google spend more on data centers in 2016 than it did in previous years. It’s expected that this amount will continue to go up in 2017, as well.
Over 2016, the company spent nearly $11 billion on data centers, which is up from about $10 billion in 2015. A large amount of the capital expenditures for Google goes to data centers.
Part of the spike in the amount spent was due to the March announcement that Google would invest more in data centers to support its cloud services.
