(The Hosting News) – The world’s first full-color 3D printer was unveiled Monday at SolidWorks World 2014 in San Diego, revolutionizing the manufacturing process of products.
Created by Stratasys, the world’s biggest competitor in 3D printing, the Object500 Connex 3 Color Multi-material 3D Printer is the only printer of its kind, combining “rigid, flexible, and transparent materials” in a single print, states a blog from Stratasys.
“Objet500 Connex3 features a unique triple-jetting technology that combines droplets of three base materials to produce realistic parts with hundreds of vivid colors and virtually unlimited combinations of rigid, flexible and transparent color materials, color digital materials as well as and high temperature materials to simulate standard and high temperature engineering plastics,” writes Stratasys.
A benefit of the printer is that it allows designers, engineers, and manufacturers to easily print prototypes without having to assemble or paint the product, making products faster to market and able to sell at a lower cost.
The Object500 printer will be available during the second second quarter of 2014, costing around $330,000.
