News: Dedicated Cluster Service, Premiered by Cartika Web Hosting
News
Ontario, Canada - (The Hosting News) - September 17, 2007 - Web hosting company, Cartika Hosting, has developed a Virtual Dedicated Cluster Service, designed for businesses with diverse and robust hosting requirements.

With the new service, Cartika utilizes its existing infrastructure to offer businesses access to a cluster of servers, without the expense of requiring the customer to maintain the cluster exclusively. Instead, Cartika hosts several customers in each server, thereby creating a shared or virtual hosting environment spread across an assortment of application servers.

Andrew Rouchotas, CEO of Cartika Hosting offered, ''Many of our medium and enterprise business customers require dedicated hosting solutions for their primary requirements, but also need centrally managed, cross-platform capabilities that require access to additional services across our established cluster, with different services. These include services such as mail, web, database, and development platforms distributed to an array of servers. By allowing multiple customers to tap into the same infrastructure, we can provide dedicated server customers with affordable access to an array of additional services and platforms across our cluster. We're the first provider to truly offer this innovative solution.''

Virtual Dedicated Clusters can be designed in a multitude of configurations, depending upon the individualized need of the customer. For example, some VDCs may include several logical services, such as mail and web, hosted on a dedicated server, in addition to other services, such as DNS and Control Panel, hosted on the rest of the virtual cluster. By using a Virtual Dedicated Clusters, businesses can dramatically improve the reliability of their web services by offloading not-critical services onto separate servers. Continuous Data Protection backup technology from R1Soft can also be integrated into Virtual Dedicated Clusters, providing an additional layer of data protection and reliability. R1Soft backups allow for flexible, frequent restore points to be taken and stored on a central server.

Cartika IT Solution Providers Inc. was established and founded in May of 2000. Internationally recognized as leaders in clustered Web hosting solutions, Cartika caters to businesses of all sizes providing shared, reseller and dedicated hosting solutions on Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD operating systems supporting a multitude of solutions, languages and development platforms, including Coldfusion, Sharepoint, MS Exchange, CRM, eCommerce and CMS. Market differentiators include automated, multi-platform, managed clustered solutions allowing companies to scale across platforms, services and across a potentially infinite number of nodes from central control interfaces. News: SWsoft Virtuozzo 4.0, Server Virtualization Beta, Enhanced with Clustering
News
Herndon, Virginia - (The Hosting News) - September 17, 2007 - Virtualization software company, SWsoft, has debuted the beta version of its Virtuozzo 4.0 operating system (OS) software for data centers, recently demonstrated at VMworld in the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

According to the company, SWsoft Virtuozzo is different from traditional hardware virtualization solutions in that it dynamically partitions a single Linux or Windows operating system instance into highly efficient and scalable virtual environments or ''containers.'' Virtuozzo is the only virtualization solution that enables dozens to hundreds of containers to immediately and automatically leverage real hardware, resulting in exceptional datacenter efficiency from administrative, ROI, and energy-consumption perspectives.

Virtuozzo 4.0’s improved OS virtualization technology solves many of the common performance, density, usability and infrastructure compatibility issues that plague traditional hardware virtualization solutions via a number of improvements and new features, including:

• Enhanced Usability – A redesigned interface that offers access to centralized resources, such as easy-to-use application templates and sample containers, plus streamlined installation;
• High Availability – Virtuozzo 4.0 includes several new options to drive uptime, such as Red Hat and Windows Server 2003 clustering services, as well as real-time backups across Linux and Windows platforms;
• Complete Management Flexibility – Arrange and manage virtual containers and Virtuozzo servers according to either the actual hardware infrastructure, or logically group them according to user preference.

Andreas Gauger, Chairman of 1 and 1 Internet remarked, ''We've used Virtuozzo since February 2006 to offer high-performance VPS solutions to thousands of customers, with only a minimal increase in real server resources. We're looking forward to implementing Virtuozzo version 4 and making use of its new features to provide our customers with an even higher level of service.''

Serguei Beloussov, CEO of SWsoft added, ''Virtuozzo 4.0 is a major step forward in our mission to provide customers with a solution that addresses multiple key barriers to service provider profitability - namely revenue per square foot, manageability and uptime. Integration with our complete line of automation, billing, and management solutions through our OPEN FUSION initiative makes Virtuozzo the most complete solution for service providers.''

Virtuozzo 4.0 will be available for public beta testing by the end of September, with general availability expected later this year. To sign up for the beta program, users can go to www.swsoft.com/virtuozzo4/beta. Current versions of Virtuozzo are available worldwide from SWsoft or any of its partners. A free, fully functional trial of Virtuozzo for Linux and Virtuozzo for Windows is available at www.swsoft.com/virtuozzo/trial.

SWsoft is a global leader in virtualization and automation software that helps consumers, businesses, and service providers optimize their use of technology. News: Google Ranks on Business Undergraduate IDEAL Employer Survey
News
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - (The Hosting News) - September 17, 2007 - Search engine, Google's image, has allowed the company to climb the Business Undergraduate IDEAL Employer Ranking Survey list, after being written in by students in 2005. Placing 154th out of 187 top employers, one year later, Google took the No. 4 position in 2006.

A record 44,064 undergraduate students from 184 schools participated in the US Undergraduate Edition of the Universum IDEAL Employer Survey; of which 18,591 were business students. In the survey, students answered questions about their career expectations on topics including top industries, career goals, communication preferences, salary expectations and IDEALand and trade employers.

In 2007 Google was short by just .15 percent of votes from snatching the No. 1 spot away from PWC. (PWC received 13.56 percent of students' votes; Google received 13.41 percent). Though Google is grounded in computers and technology, it still holds strong among the more popular business industries. Financial services (24 percent) ranks as the No. 1 preferred industry for business students, followed by auditing/Accounting/Taxation (17 percent), Advertising/Public Relations (16 percent), Entertainment/Media/Public Relations (13 percent) and Investment Banking (12 percent).

PricewaterhouseCoopers reclaimed its No. 1 position on the IDEAL Employer Ranking Survey after losing the top spot to Walt Disney last year, the only time its reign at No. 1 had been broken since 2004. As referenced above, Google, however, is becoming a viable threat to PWC's throne, ascending to No. 2 in the rankings this year.

The Business Undergraduate IDEAL Employer Ranking Survey is conducted annually by Universum USA, a leading employer branding firm that helps companies understand and develop their Employer Brand Image and Employer Value Proposition through research, consulting and media solutions.

The strength that Google has as an employer brand in the job market is not solely based on finances. Millennial business students felt that the best companies to work for have high ethical standards (33 percent) followed by financial strength (31 percent), industry leadership (25 percent), attractive locations (24 percent) and market success (21 percent).

Claudia Tattanelli, CEO of Universum USA remarked, ''Ultimately, these ambitious Millennials have far-reaching goals and do not feel tethered to one employer. The top organizations are facing the demands of this new generation. Millennials have more priorities, and unlike previous generations, they will not stay at a job hoping for a promotion. With this group, job loyalty decreases when their needs aren't being met.''

Students want time to enjoy both their professional and personal lives, ranking a work/life balance (62 percent) as their top career goal. Building a sound financial base (43 percent), pursuing further education (27 percent), contributing to society (22) percent) and working internationally (21 percent) rounded out the top five career goals for this group.

In addition to employer rankings, top industries and top employer characteristics, the Universum Survey also asks questions regarding compensation elements, decision drivers, and salary.

Savvy business students are not only aware of the benefits of employers, but they use them accept or reject an offer to fit their lifestyles. A good annual base salary (78 percent) was ranked as the No. 1 compensation element, followed by health insurance (55 percent), retirement plan: 401K/403B (39 percent), tuition reimbursement (23 percent) and cost of living adjustment (20) percent). The most requested salary at their first job ranged from $40,000 - $49,000 and the requested salary five years after graduation ranged from $60,000 - $69,000.

When asked what overall elements affect the decision to accept or reject an offer, there was a tie between the compensation package and work/life balance at 37 percent. This was followed by geographic location (28 percent), company culture (27.2) percent) and a clear advancement path (27.1). Charts, graphs and more breakdowns are available for these and other findings.

News: Web Hosting Businesses Acquired, at WeBuyHostingCompanies.com
News
Suwanee, Georgia - (The Hosting News) - September 14, 2007 - Nearly 60 percent of Fortune 1000 companies surveyed, reported that technical know-how is most important when choosing a web hosting service, with forty percent looking for reliability, and 34 percent seeking the best price first.

Host-Dir.com's survey also reported that smaller and less profitable businesses put an even greater emphasis on bottom-line cost. The problem with this focus on price, however, is that ''often these 'great deal' companies go under or can't really live up to their promises.''

The recently launched WeBuyHostingCompanies.com purchased two more web-host providers this past month. News: Dedicated Server Monitoring, Unveiled by Web Hosting Firm, Server Intellect
News
Orlando, Florida - (The Hosting News) - September 14, 2007 - Windows-based shared, virtual private server (VPS) and dedicated web hosting solutions firm, Server Intellect, has introduced a custom-developed service monitoring feature for dedicated servers.

The service is designed to allow the company to proactively manage dedicated servers and perform required maintenance before the problem affects the customer.

The new feature, which starts at $20/monthly for up to five service monitors, provides customers with the ability to monitor any service or application on their dedicated server, 24 hours a day. If Server Intellect detects that a monitored service or application is not running or responding properly, a ticket is automatically dispatched to the company's technical support department and corrective action is taken.

Eric Pratt, CEO of Server Intellect remarked, ''We are bringing technical support to an important new level. With service monitoring, our systems can automatically monitor anything running on a dedicated server - from a mail server to disk space usage or even a specially-developed application. Instead of customers notifying us that there is a problem with their server, we notify them of the problem first, and by that time it has been fixed.''

Customers select the specific services or applications they want to be monitored, and the status of each is updated approximately every 5 minutes once monitoring has begun. Historical status reports are generated every 15 minutes. Notifications of an unresponsive service can be sent through a multitude of mediums, including email, text message/SMS, instant message, or through an online control panel. Service monitoring is currently available exclusively to Server Intellect customers.

Recently, Server Intellect was named the world's largest Helm hosting provider, by web hosting control panel system developer, WebHostAutomation, Ltd. The Microsoft Gold Certified web hosting solutions firm hosts approximately 20,000 domains utilizing Helm. The company has been using Helm since it was initially released in 2003, and provides the control panel free of charge with all of its hosting products. Server Intellect currently uses Helm 4, the most recent version of the control panel. Helm 4 is built exclusively on the .NET 2.0 framework, and includes API access, automatic updates, and one of the most intuitive and user friendly interfaces of all control panels on the market.

Shared web hosting plans from Server Intellect start at $14.95/monthly and include 1500MB of Web space and 50GB of bandwidth. All shared hosting plans include an array of enterprise features at no additional charge, including a 99.9% uptime guarantee, daily data backup, enterprise traffic statistics, advanced webmail, progressive SPAM filtering, and over 40 ASP.NET Components for developers.

The company also offers Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS), and Dedicated Servers. These products include a fully configured installation of the Helm control panel system at no additional charge, normally valued at $899.

A subsidiary of Client Intellect, Inc., Sever Intellect is a provider of advanced Windows-based Shared, VPS, Application, and Dedicated Web hosting solutions. The company was founded in 2003 and is located in Orlando, Florida.
