(The Hosting News) – Popular social network Twitter on Thursday unveiled a big change: The introduction of a music service.
“It uses Twitter activity, including Tweets and engagement, to detect and surface the most popular tracks and emerging artists. It also brings artists’ music-related Twitter activity front and center: go to their profiles to see which music artists they follow and listen to songs by those artists. And, of course, you can tweet songs right from the app,” stated the company via its blog.
To make the move possible, the company is receiving the songs from sources including Spotify, iTunes and Rdio.
Meanwhile, Twitter is working to expand its resources and expected to add new music providers at a later date.
The application is available on both iOS and in web form. So what exactly makes it particularly interesting?
Twitter provided an example, noting those interested in hearing music that rap star Wiz Khalifa likes could find his name, tap it and then enjoy music from those he follows through his Twitter account.
Sounds pretty interesting, right? Those interested can visit music.twitter.com for more info.
