(The Hosting News) – Dell just made a larger step in the area of virtualized storage by recently announcing new solutions for EqualLogic, the company’s line of data solution arrays for data facilities that are virtualized. With the new line, Dell is focusing on providing the units to businesses that range in size.
Commenting on the matter, IDC VP of Storage and IT Strategies Richard Villars stated, “Dell’s continued investment in advanced yet cost effective storage solutions along with a continued expansion of its enterprise service and solutions organization, puts the company in a strong position to help IT organizations get the most from their data centers, today, and in the future.”
When compared to past releases, one change that the new launch includes is what Dell says is a performance improvement of “up to 60 percent.”
Along with the new line of virtualized storage products, Dell also talked about more company developments, including its continued partnership with virtualization company VMWare.
As a reseller of the virtualization company, Dell has added compatibility for VMWare’s vSphere into firmware for EqualLogic (vSphere is VMWare’s IT virtualization product).
Meanwhile, Dell is busy preparing for its annual Dell World conference. Held this year in Austin, Texas from October twelfth through fourteenth, the conference will feature keynotes by company CEO Michael Dell, other top company employees, and former U.S. Chief Information Officer (CIO) Vivek Kundra. As CIO, Kundra was responsible for overseeing the U.S. government’s conversion to cloud along with a large national data center consolidation effort.
