(The Hosting News) – Virtus Data Centres (“Virtus”), a leading UK provider of premium carrier-neutral data centre services, announced today an expansion of its London (LON1) data centre. The expansion, which will increase Virtus’ net technical space by 23,000 ft2 and customer power by 3 MW, will enable the company to meet growing customer demand for high quality data centre services, particularly from customers in the fast-growing digital media and cloud computing sectors. The expansion is planned to be available to customers in phases from Q3 2012. The expansion will address the current and future needs of companies running cloud-based applications or virtualised servers that require high power density deployments. Customers will also benefit from the multiple connectivity options already available at the facility. Virtus’ LON1 facility is designed to provide customers with highly resilient, energy efficient and secure data centre services.
Warren Barrie, UK MD of Virtus, commented: “London has one of the highest demand rates for premium data centre services driven by the growing digital economy and increasing trend of outsourcing data centre requirements to premium operators. The new capacity assures our customers that their data centre growth plans can be accommodated by Virtus now and in the future. Expansion of our LON1 facility underpins our expansion strategy and emphasises our ongoing commitment to the London data centre market.”
