(The Hosting News) – Virtualization provider VMware invested in the desktop-as-a-service industry by purchasing Desktone.
The announcement was made on Tuesday. Desktone’s solutions specifically allow users to push Windows desktop environments in addition to apps via the cloud.
“With the Desktone platform already certified with the VMware vCloud® technology, VMware vSphere® and VMware Horizon View™, customers will be able to quickly modernize and move their desktop infrastructure to the cloud and open new possibilities for customers, users and service providers,” stated Desktone CEO Peter McKay via a press release.
VMware did not reveal how much it had payed for acquiring the company.
