(The Hosting News) – Ten years ago on Monday, one of the world’s most popular management platforms for websites was officially born in the form of WordPress.
The company officially marked the milestone via a blog post, noting that “hundreds of parties” were going on in celebration of the event.
“Watching the feed of photos, tweets, and posts from Auckland to Zambia is incredible; from first-time bloggers to successful WordPress-based business owners, people are coming out in droves to raise a glass and share the “holiday” with their local communities,” stated the company.
In addition to noting the occasion, WordPress emphasized that version 3.6 of the platform would soon be arriving and released a list of new company interns mostly composed of new contributors.
In August of 2011, WordPress noted it powered 14.7% of the world’s top million websites – making its software among the most popular to run web presences.
