(The Hosting News) – A cloud-based environment offers convenient and cost-effective access to technology. However, it also increases the security risk and need for appropriate authentication and authorization processes—particularly as enterprise information extends from in-house systems to popular software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings, such as Salesforce.com and Google Apps. WSO2 will address these challenges in a technical webinar, “Security in the Cloud,” which will run on Thursday, October 27.
The technical webinar aims to help IT architects and developers identify top security challenges that can stop or slow a move to the cloud. Attendees also will gain insights into best practices and proven patterns for designing and deploying secure cloud implementations, as well as available open source cloud middleware and security solutions to support these efforts.
The lively and practical session will include brief demonstrations using the WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platform. The webinar will run twice on October 27, 2011: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PDT for the Americas and 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. GMT for Europe and Asia-Pacific. To register, visit wso2.org/library/webinars/2011/10/security-cloud-webinar.
Webinar topics will include:
· The risks and challenges associated with different cloud deployment models, along with patterns and practices to overcome them.
· How to extend identity and access management across multiple SaaS applications and heterogeneous on-premise systems.
· A review of open security standards, such as SAML2, OpenID, OAuth, XACML and SCIM.
· Proven practices and technologies for ensuring that data is protected in a multi-tenant cloud environment.
· The role of governance in securing cloud services used by the enterprise.
Leading the webinar will be Prabath Siriwardena, WSO2 software architect and senior manager, who is an expert in service-oriented architecture (SOA) security and cloud implementations. He plays a core role in developing the security functionality within the WSO2 Carbon and WSO2 Stratos platforms. Prabath also is an Apache Software Foundation (ASF) committer, serving as a Project Management Committee (PMC) member of Apache Axis2 and actively contributing to various open source projects.
