(The Hosting News) – Yahoo! has pulled an outstanding reversal, reclaiming its top spot as the #1 U.S. web destination for the first time since May of 2011, according to a report from CNET.
The indication comes from comScore which regularly reports on web traffic.
The latest report shows Yahoo!’s various websites hauling in 196,564 million views for the month of July, an impressive stat that even topped Google’s 192,251 million views.
Other websites ranking behind both Yahoo! and Google included Microsoft, Facebook, AOL and Amazon respectively.
Meanwhile, the surge in Yahoo! traffic may have received a boost from one key thing: The company’s acquisition of micro blogging service Tumblr in May.
Since arriving at Yahoo in July of last year, CEO Marissa Mayer has overseen company initiatives in an attempt to stop Yahoo! declining fortunes.
Yahoo! saw its earnings per share rise from $228 million to $335 million for 2013’s second quarter, something that was reported in July. That’s despite an overall decline in company revenues, a stat that slightly fell short of expectations set by the tech giant.
